This girl

Miss Jordis is developing quite her own sense of self. Not only does she like to wear a variety of different clothing styles all at once but she's becoming quite vocally inquisitive of things out in public. She's tomboy with a touch of diva and a splash of attitude. Everyone seems to ignore the attitude part though because her little voice is so cute. Here she is conversing with the Halloween decor at the grocery store.

She found Xander's old shoes that I was going to donate in her closet, but has decided that they are hers now. They fit her perfectly and she wears them everywhere. This particular day she was also wearing his old jeans. They're fairly unisex so I passed them on to her. Bulky sweatshirt and don't forget the princess hat.

She's also started wearing mis-matched pajamas. Never mind if the whole set is clean, she likes to mix and match the tops and bottoms. Here she is doing Wii yoga with a cupcake top and Minnie Mouse pants.

And on Tuesday, even though she has a closet full of cute girly clothes, she wore her brother's old dinosaur shirt, his socks and his shoes. I think the jacket used to be his as well. The brown pants are hand-me-downs from her neighbor friend, Megan. And don't forget....a princess hat, but backwards because she can't see with the bill facing forward.

Yesterday Jordis looked very cute and girly and an old woman at Kohl's was charmed when, as I was looking at something Jordis asked, "is that on sale?" "Oh, isn't she cute" the woman said. "I see you're teaching her early." I'm sure she would have changed her mind if she was the woman in the restroom stall later when Jordis peered under the door and asked, "Mommy is that lady makin' poops?"

Jordis' Tea Party

For Jordis' birthday we had a Miss Spider Tea Party.

Miss Spider's Tea Party is a book that was written in the 90's and more recently turned into a TV show for kids called Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends. Miss Spider adopts all kinds of little bugs as her children and they live amongst the flowers where everything is bright and colorful.

I got Jordis a cute yellow dress for the occasion, since Miss Spider is yellow, and this is how she felt about it.

The headband didn't last long, either.
When the party started we put an episode of Miss Spider on TV and the kids colored a Miss Spider picture.

Then we had lunch.

I was brave and let them drink out of my china.

We started with caterpillars made out of grapes and cantaloupe.

We also had macaroni and cheese made out of farfalle noodles (to look like butterflies), and three kinds of tea sandwiches that were shaped like butterflies and flowers. There were also ladybugs.

After lunch we had a craft where the kids made doorhangers for their bedrooms. They had bug designs on them and I got them letters for their names and bug stickers as well.

After craft time Jordis opened presents. Here she is with her neighbor friend. You wouldn't know it by looking at them here, but last time they got together they spent hours digging in the dirt in an empty lot in our neighborhood.

This is Jordis' prom date. It's been arranged since they were born.

He got her this fabulous Yo Gabba Gabba necklace and hair accessories. Any boy who shows up with jewelry is A-ok in my book.

I love this picture of Jordis and her cousin. Orneriness abounds with these two and I think they'll be a dynamic duo when they got older. If they spend enough time together they could conjure up some serious fun. Or trouble.

After presents it was time for cake and ice cream. I spent 4 1/2 hours at my neighbors house where she helped me make fondant, and it turned out so cute for Jordis' cupcakes.

Jordis HAD to have this hat when we were at the store. Of course she only wore it for two minutes, which I had a feeling would happen even though she promised she'd wear it for the whole party. I'm such a sucker.

Tea bag shaped goody bags for the kids and flowered ones for the moms.

The promise of goody bags is how we got them to sit together for this. Apparently the two girls who are related inherited the same gracefulness gene.

We were glad our little girl had such a fun day!

My computer's back!

I'm so excited to have my computer back from the shop, but now I have to try and condense what I was going to blog about so it's not so overwhelming. Jason was letting me use his computer but the blog program only lets you upload photos from a URL or from the computer you're on, and I didn't want to download things to his computer and then go back and delete them later. Too time consuming. So I took a little blog hiatus.

Let's see....I discovered the icicles hanging off the house the day after I made snow ice cream. They're right over the AC unit so I left them there. Figured there's no one walking around back there that could get impaled if they fell.

Jordis is finally fitting in to her Raggedy Ann outfit. My step-mom bought it for her, I think last Christmas, and she couldn't wear it. The skirt is actually still too big but if I don't put her in it soon the shirt will be too small, so I folded it down a little. She wouldn't pose for me so I bribed her by letting her stand on the sofa with her shoes on. I didn't know how long she'd wear the hat but she still had it on after church. I was impressed.

Big storm. Blew a ridge vent off the roof and left us with a big hole, but we've gotten it fixed now.

Xander loves his new winter coat. And I love that I got an amazing deal on it.
